Subject: Emerson Creek Transmission Line – Public Hearing – 02/09/2021
The virtual Public Hearing for the transmission line connected to the Emerson Creek wind project is scheduled for Tuesday, February 9, 2021, beginning at 6:00 PM.  It is Case # 19-1073-EL-BTX.

The Public Hearing for the transmission line connected to the Republic wind project. Case # 19-1066-EL-BTX, was held earlier this month.  One person testified in favor of the project, no one voiced opposition.

It seems logical that the wind turbine project and the transmission line project are closely connected.  It makes no sense to build a wind turbine project without a way to transmit the electricity generated to the electric grid.  It also makes no sense to build a transmission line without a bunch of wind turbines to hook it up to.  There has certainly been a large amount of local opposition to both the Emerson Creek and Republic wind turbine projects.  Because of the close connection between the wind turbine project to the transmission line project, you would think being opposed to one means you are obviously opposed to both.  The wind developers don’t seem to think so.

After the Republic transmission line Public Hearing earlier this month, a representative of Apex Clean Energy provided written testimony to the Ohio Power Siting Board which said “There was no testimony against the transmission line project at the local public
hearing”.   He is correct, there was  no testimony opposing the project.  Anyone who lives in the area knows there is opposition to the project.  It is as evident as the nose on your face.  Those in opposition have heard the same line from local politicians, “there is no opposition”.  We have heard that line from County Commissioners, Township Trustees, School Board members, City Council members, Mayors and other public officials in our immediate area.  “We haven’t heard any opposition” was the line repeated by local politicians until those in opposition started showing up at public meetings, writing letters, signing petitions and making phone calls .  The local politicians quickly found there is opposition and plenty of it.

It is time once again to let your voice be heard.  Anyone can testify at the local Public Hearing on February  9, 2021.  Anyone can submit written comments to be made part of the record and/or placed in the Public Comments section for the Emerson Creek Transmission Line project.  The URL to these portals is: https://opsb.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/opsb/cases/19-1073-el-btx
