This picture haunts me and breaks my heart all at the same time. I recently read that Kansas is in the top 3 states that these companies are wanting to make wind farms along with Iowa. This land will never be the same again.

The construction of 15 to-20 foot deep concrete foundations to support all of the 328-foot-high towers with 2-MW turbines required 30,000 tons of cement. On average, each of these below-ground support systems used 60 truckloads of concrete (750 yd3)

This is a picture of a wind turbine base with rebar in place before concrete poured. This is on some of the best ground in the world in Kossouth County, IA. This base will never be removed.
