Yesterday Commissioner Shayne Thomas single handily stopped four local Townships (Adams, Pleasant, Reed, and Scipio) from having their own legal counsel represent them in their opposition/intervention against the Republic Wind Project in front of the OPSB (Ohio Power Siting Board).
The attached pictures are screenshots from 2 separate letters that The Seneca County Prosecutor’s Office sent out to Township Officials and County Commissioners. One on July 24th and the other one yesterday, August 1st.
With Commissioner Thomas NOT signing the waiver the Seneca County Prosecutor will NOT be able to legally represent the above mentioned Townships. This leaves these Townships with very few options going forward:
– Drop their intervention with the OPSB thus ending their opportunity to have their respective Townships from having their voices heard on this very important topic.
– Hire an attorney to continue their legal intervention that will cost the townships money (thanks to Commissioner Thomas).
– Ask Commissioner Thomas to reconsider his stance on not signing this document at the next Commissioners Meeting on Tuesday, August 7th at 11:00 am.
Therefore the Trustees from these Townships have chose to attend the County Commissioners Meeting next week to ask Commissioner Thomas to reconsider his position and sign the waiver which allow the Townships to be represented by their legal counsel. Thus we are encouraging as many of you attend this meeting as possible in support of our Township Trustees. We need to fill the room and then some.
What Commissioner Thomas is doing is vindictive and is downright wrong!!! The interests of Seneca County residents should ALWAYS come before the interests of Big Wind Corporations!!!
